Out of Stock

Bikin panas Blogger yesterday... penat ja type, semua gone sebab "440 Error".

Many moons ago, a "once-a-good-friend" gave me a packet of this. I fell in love with it instantly. It became THE coffee and other instant coffee mixes didn't have any place in my heart any longer.

So I was more than delighted when I had trips to KK in December 2010 and again in end Feb 2011. That will mean I have the opportunity to stock up on these precious sachets! By stocking up, I actually mean about 20 big packets on each trip? Haha... And to know that it's so easily available in the supermarkets makes me jump with joy!! In end Feb trip I actually had to lug 40 packets - 20 for myself and another 20 for another coffee lover who swears by this coffee only. The extreme... yeah!

The coffee??? Smooth, silky, heavenlyness in a wonderful blend of coffee bean, gang-gang-hao (just-right) amount of sugar and a healthy dose of creamer. I must appear weird to my colleagues because every time I opened a sachet I will bring the wrapper close to my nose and close my eyes to inhale and enjoy the heavenly scent.

But!!! BUt!!!! BUTTTTT!!!!!! what's this??? My LAST packet??? oh no!!!!! Really?? *whilst on knees digging the kitchen cabinet for any hidden* No SUCH luck!!!! I am truly on my last packet.... what now.... how will life go on every morning after this?? how will the sun continue to shine in my dark office?? how will I be able to escape to my own "heaven" now that I no longer THE blue sachets?? How... how... how????

Potfull of love

Do you have a pot that reminds you of childhood? I've got one... it's a slow cooker pot. Mom claims that it's over 30 yrs old. Why do I say it reminds me of childhood? Simply because, in her struggling busy days as a teacher + young wife + mother of two, this is the pot that she would use to ensure that we all had a good warm meal in the evenings.

She would put the pot on (with all the ingredients in of course) early in the morning before she leave for school and when she came home, hearty meals would be readily serve. Magic cooker? To some extend... but more importantly, it's a pot full of love.

We have not used the pot too often these days. When dad came home last weekend, I wanted to cook ribs so tender that it will literally melt in your mouth so I asked Mom permission to use The Pot. I mixed the pork with some Teriyaki sauce, ketchup, garlic, ginger and bombay onions and let it stew in the pot for some 5 hours.

The result? This picture doesn't do justice to the moist juicy flesh that drops readily from the bones. Sprinkled generously with toasted sesame seed. (picture taken in a haste as everyone was already at the table!)

What kitchen utensil spells L.O.V.E. to you?

Distance

It was a super great weekend. Starting with Dad coming home on Friday night followed by a baking / cooking Satur-Day, and a long, relaxed, chilled out dinner with the whole family on Satur-Nite. Really, nothing beats sitting around the dining table, surrounded by good food, but most of all good talk & laughter. Even super active Del was just sitting and laughing away (or rather, being laughed at!)

Should see dad's face when he got this shirt... Thank you again Jane. He loved it, and his cucu forced him to keep it for Christmas! Haha.

My parents consider themselves really extremely blessed coz not only do their daughter has got a bunch of "crazy-never-give-up-i-love-you-till-death" bunch of friends; their grandson's got a mountain of "entertaining-positive influence-you're extraordinary to do extraordinary-things" aunties and uncles but also that they too have a bunch of children whom they hold very dear to their heart [They still have cookies kah that? You should send them seaweed, make more the bun, then send over - me: erm, she not eat chicken - then make beef la... need to send the butter cookies to Sha, bla bla, bla!] (and who gets them stuff even when they go travelling??? - to note, mom's received bag la, baju la, kain la - which are now in her treasure chest!). Honest, it's hard to comprehend!

It was bittersweet to see Dad go off again yesterday. To know that he will need to find his way back to the School via public transport alone; even after poring over maps and photos of the railway - aduh... it was enough to create a nervous wreck out of me! When he called to say that he's back in his apartment, "relief" would not even come close to what I felt.

I guess it's true... distance does indeed make the heart grow fonder.

7 days bet is over. I'm on the losing end. I guess it was not meant to be. Be strong, dear Heart.

Chicken Nugget - Homemade

Which mother and child is not in favor of processed food? Mother - for the simplicity of preparation; Child for the fast yummy snack. Sausages and nuggets being main hero. It's hard to run away from these. Yes, though mothers knows well that these are not the healthiest food to give to a child, it is still one of the easiest. I am no different than the thousands out there.

This is after steaming / cooling down. Cut into standard nugget size.

I came across this a couple of weeks ago and since nuggets is one of the fav food, I thought I'll try to make my own... So last Friday night, I blended the chicken, the carrot, mix mix and steamed. Then coated and left to freeze overnight.

This is after coating with breadcrumbs and ready to be frozen for at least 30 minutes. I left mine for almost 24 hours.

Noel as usual kept asking if there were ready so I fried a batch for Saturday afternoon tea snack. Verdict: "Just like the real nugget Mummy!!" Hmmm... which is real and which is fake I wonder :) This made about 55 pcs and that's good for a quick and easy school snack for Mom to prepare for Noel. What made me feel good about this is that I can be sure that I used 100% breast meat without any skin / fat on it + there's heaps of carotene from the carrots in here.

"Fast food" ain't that bad when it's prepared from home, I'd say ;)

Impossible

Waiting, hoping, praying.... for or against... a wish unbeknown even to the requester... 7 days of agony lies in wait... 1 down, 6 to go...

With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God ~Mark 10:27~

In all the setbacks of your life as a believer,
God is plotting for your joy. —John Piper

Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu

I stand by my comment that comedies / sitcoms of today don't stand a chance against those of yesteryears. It just lack the essence for being truly funny. More to being lawak bodoh - an insult to our Intelligence.

One of the comedies that opened my eyes to the different loghat in Malaysia during my younger days was Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu. So much so, that when I attended Uni in Mainland, those loghat didn't surprise me anymore. And their lawak in the sitcom were truly lawak berkesan!

It's then with great sense of loss that I read in the news today that one of the actor has passed away yesterday. Known as Pak Uda in the series, his signature senget-sebelah-wrongly-button checkered shirt will surely be missed.

This is the way I....

Now sing-a-long with me :)

This is the way I cut my veg,

make my salad and my sandwich,
This is the way I prepare my food,
For dinner everyday

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the way I keep my health,
go to gym, and to swim,
This is the way I keep my health,
At school every evening
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the way I wash the loo,
clean the loo, wipe dry the loo,
This is the way I wash the loo,
On my duty roaster every fortnight

Hehe... good job in singing everyone! :) Yeah, looks like he's having fun. He sent these pix for his grandkids to see yesterday... Thanks for the prayers, and continue to pray for us ya!
